Entex Wind Energy Gears Up Education For Wind Power Workforce

With financial help from the Wind Industry, institutions of higher education now provide wind-related curricula. As the Wind Industry grows, so will the need for skilled employees. While some Wind Power employers hope to hire from other energy-related industries, others are working with schools to train future workers in the Wind Industry.

J.D. Davenport, President / CEO of Entex Wind Energy says that by having engineers within our company, we are able and willing to train new employees. He also states that many of today's Wind Industry Executives came from Coal & Gas Industries, as well as the Utilities field. Tomorrow's Executives will be very knowledgable with renewable energy backgrounds. Davenport also states; "We are seeing many people coming into the Wind Energy field right out of school. They come from Atmospheric Science programs, as well as Meteorology Science programs. They will need to have a broad knowledge of how Wind Energy works". Davenport also states that some employers lure workers from other Alternative Energy companies. "At Entex Energy, we will be hiring engineers and training them ourselves, he says". "I think the market is tight right now for talent. However, I believe that in four to five years, the market will catch-up. This time-frame should also be sufficient for students to earn degrees that can give them good employment positions in the Wind Energy Field".

Institutions of higher-learning are training students in broad fields of Wind Energy. From technicians who actually climb the towers, to engineers who design the facilities. Furthermore, some schools are moving into partnerships with Corporations to help finance wind-related curricula. Earlier this year, Texas State Technical College (TSTC) West Texas formed a partnership with Florida based FPL Energy LLC to offer a Wind Energy Technician's Degree.

Davenport states that the Services Division of Entex Wind Energy will have numerous opportunities in the near future. Building Wind Farms is only the beginning. Entex's services will include blade repair, and other maintenance services. Not everyone is able to provide real wind turbine service. We at Entex Wind Energy can do it.
